Dundee eye loan deal for Celtic’s Conor Hazard

Celtic’s Conor Hazard could leave the club on loan with James McPake’s Dundee interested in signing the Irishman. According to The Daily Record, Dundee are interested in signing Hazard as Celtic eye a potential move for Mat Ryan from Brighton.

Hazard wants game time and with Celtic looking at bringing another goalkeeper in, a move to Dens Park could be the best outcome for all parties. The player spent some time on-loan back in 2019/20 but this was curtailed due to COVID-19. The player has been awarded a new deal by Celtic but the taste of first team football and games for N. Ireland may have whet his appetite to play regular games. With The ‘Dee earning promotion, a season in the Premiership could be exactly what he needs to prove that he can do it for Celtic in the future.

Hazard made a breakthrough into the first team and was the hero as Celtic clinched the Quadruple Treble on penalties, even if he may have been at fault for one of Hearts’ equalisers. Celtic will know that Hazard is talented but needs games to get these mistakes out of his system and he will build into a competent goalkeeper.

The 23-year-old was involved in a three-way struggle for the Celtic goalkeeping jersey as neither Vasilis Barkas nor Scott Bain impressed. Ange Postecoglou will likely look to get Hazard and other promising ‘keeper Ross Doohan game time via a spell away from the club as he looks to shore up the goalkeeping position.
