Dundee United v Celtic: Postecoglou’s side shine last time at Tannadice

Celtic face Dundee United at Tannadice in the Quarter Finals of The Scottish Cup. Ange Postecoglou’s side will be looking to seal the last place in the Semi-Final draw, which is due to take place at full-time.

Throwback to December 2021 and Celtic travelled to the City of Discovery and put on a show for the Celtic support. It was a dominant performance from start to finish and it could’ve been far more than just the 3-0.

Tom Rogic opened the scoring with a goal of the season contender. The Australian midfielder, who is reborn under Ange Postecoglou, picked up the ball on the right side of the United half before driving into the box, cutting by players before curling a left-footed effort beyond Benjamin Siegrist in the United nets.

Callum McGregor’s clipped ball found David Turnbull in the box, who’s first touch put the ball over Siegrist allowing the Scotland Internationalist to tap the ball into the empty net. Turnbull was later on the end of a shocking challenge from Calum Butcher and was lucky to escape uninjured after Don Robertson only flashed a yellow card.

It was 3-0 late on thanks to sub (and League debutant) Liam Scales. The defender arrived at the edge of the box and his left-footed effort appeared to curl away from the United goalie before the Irishman shared his adulation with the Celtic support in the Shed.

Postecoglou will be hoping for more of the same tomorrow evening with his team on a fine run of form.
