Dundee Utd 0-0 Celtic: Full Time

John Kennedy spoke to various fan media outlets during the week and he stated that he was keen to see Celtic score more goals again. He also spoke a lot about improvements that he would like to make and the way that he studies and looks at the game.

Today, we saw evidence of that as Celtic turned in a much more impressive performance and created numerous chances. 18 shots were fired on goal in the first half and the Dundee United keeper made more saves in one half of football than any other keeper this season.

Those opportunities showed that the chance creation Kennedy sought was going well. However, the goals he craves weren’t forthcoming.

There were decent opportunities in the second half with Edouard being foiled when he looked set to score and a ball flashing across the box from by McGregor. In the 73rd minute, a golden opportunity arose when Elyounoussi missed a header from five yards. Somehow the Norwegian nodded wide with Celtic’s 24th attempt of the afternoon (11 on target). Elyounoussi then went close again in the 77th minute, when his shot went inches past the post from just inside the box.

That miss signaled a break in play and Scott Brown was subbed for James Forrest. Forrest has been out of the team for months and it’s really encouraging to see him back in action for the Hoops.

Forrest’s introduction made little difference though as the game ended 0-0 and the inevitability of the league title being lost has now been confirmed.
