Edouard with yet another link away

As good as he is, it seems almost inevitable amongst a huge proportion of the Celtic support that the club will be resigned to losing key man Odsonne Edouard this summer. A man who has seemingly endured a transfer saga lasting well over eighteen months now, he will most likely be the biggest loss in the rebuild of Celtic over the summer when Lawwell, Lennon and half the squad pack their bags and leave Glasgow.

With Leigh Griffiths getting ever older, Albian Ajeti being hounded by the media as the next Tom Daley and Patryk Klimala not exactly setting Glasgow alight, Odsonne’s exit could not come at a worse time for the Bhoys’.

And, according to Italian source Central Suono Sport, Roma’s general director Tiago Pinto is a huge fan of the Frenchman and is the latest director of a huge European club to register his interest in the tall talisman.

Edin Dzeko, the former Manchester City striker, currently holds down the starting berth in the Roma attack, but at the ripe age of 35, he is coming to the end of his career – and with strenuous links to Manchester United, it appears it could be one in, one out at the Stadio Olimpico, with French Eddy taking over the Bosnian’s role. Dzeko was recently heralded as one of the star strikers of the division in recent years, but with the clock against him it is time for someone else to step up and be the new God of Rome.

Serie A could be the division for Odsonne; as opposed to the Premier League which is much more physical, Italian football typically relies on more of a counter attacking approach, with skillful feet picking apart defences. With youth products Nicola Zaniolo and Justin Kluivert – son of Patrick – behind him, the rebuild is certainly on for Roma.

Much alludes to Eddy’s quick feet which have created many of his goals throughout his Celtic career, and with Dzeko losing a yard of pace annually, it would be no surprise to see Eddy’s pace add a new dimension to a Roma side who haven’t quite hit their heights of reaching the Champions League semi-final in 2018 recent years.
