English side keen on permanent deal for Celtic goalie Conor Hazard

CONOR HAZARD has emerged as a target for Conor Hazard, Celtic’s third choice goalkeeper. The Irish goalie is behind Vasilias Barkas and Scott Bain in the Celtic pecking order for Neil Lennon’s side. Now, journalist Alan Nixon is linking the 22-year-old with a switch to League One side Accrington Stanley.

Any deal would mean that Celtic would need to recruit another goalie so that they have three at the club. Hazard has had loan spells away from the club at Falkirk, Partick Thistle and Dundee but failed to really make an impact on proceedings in the first team with Craig Gordon, Fraser Forster and Scott Bain keeping him out the side.

There is no indication of the fee for Hazard; however, it is likely that should a deal go ahead, the club would place a hefty sell-on fee for the goalkeeper. Although it would mean that the club need to find a third choice keeper.

Elsewhere, Barkas is expected to make his debut against Kilmarnock this afternoon as the Scottish Champions travel to Rugby Park.
