In theory it could make sense to get a player in exchange for Odsonne Edouard if they were a potential replacement, but it could also make it harder to figure out if Celtic got a good deal.
Many are expecting Eddy to leave this summer although you would hope that the new manager will have a good go at getting him to sign a new contract, and a report from Corriere Dello Sport via Sport witness has indicated that AC Milan are showing an interest.
That could be a great move for Eddy as he would be joining a huge club who look like they are getting back to their best, while he’ll also have a year to learn under Zlatan Ibrahimovic before eventually phasing him out.
The problem with this is you already know that any talk of a swap deal is going to involve Diego Laxalt, and it’s actually pretty tough to say if it’s worth bringing him back.

The biggest problem is that he can look fantastic at times and he has the pace and energy to occupy an entire half of the field on his own, while he’s aggressive in the tackle so he’s not a completely horrible defender.
Those qualities can sometimes make you forget about the bad side, but he doesn’t have any positional discipline and he’s fairly useless at marking a man or defending any kind of cross into the box, so it does put extra pressure on the defence.
If this was to happen then there would still need to be a big fee on the table as well as Laxalt, but based on the evidence of last season it would be preferable to get a bigger fee that would allow Celtic to replace Eddy and the Uruguayan left back rather than taking him back.
