Ex-Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths makes return to Australian football

Former Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths has re-joined Australian part-timers Mandurah City. Western Australian State League Division 1 side have snapped up Griffiths in what is an ambitious signing for the club. The ex-Hibernian frontman has been without a club since leaving Mandurah last October but he is now looking at seeing out the season Down Under.

Griffiths had been training with Livi but now he had decided to head for Western Australia. Celtic had released the former Scotland Internationalist in January 2022 before the striker sealed a deal until the end of the season with The Bairns. Unfortunately, he could not find the form to be rewarded with a contract. These last few months have proven to be tough for Griffiths, he has put feelers out that he is in good shape; however, no one appeared to be willing to take the gamble.

Griffiths scored 123 goals for Celtic in 261 appearances but off-field issues plagued the striker’s time in Glasgow. His winners medals cannot be taken away but the striker is still of a good age, meaning he can get his career back on track.
