‘Exactly the sort of players we want to have at Celtic,’ Broony

CAPTAIN Scott Brown has been talking about Celtic’s French forces ahead of tomorrow night’s vital Champions League qualifier with Rosenborg.

“Moussa and Odsonne are very chilled. I think it must be a cool French thing, to be honest. They are totally different to how I am,”Broony admitted.

“After the World Cup Final last weeked they were buzzing, and they came into Lennoxtown for training with their French tops on.

“We were cheering on France for their sakes after backing Dedryck Boyata for as long as Belgium were in it.

“It wasn’t to be for him, but the French boys were happy. They had a smile on their face all week at training.

“Most of the lads were watching the World Cup to cheer on the Celtic boys playing in Russia, and the French lads obviously backed their nation,” Broony said.

The skipper has been impressed, like the rest of us, by the strong start to the season made by our French front two.

“Dembele and Edouard are frightening together up front, and they seem to have developed a really good partnership. That’s going to help us in the long run.

“The two of them are strong and fit, they both know the route to goal and that’s a great asset to have.

“We have Leigh Griffiths to come back in too, and that means we have three strikers who are all good goalscorers — but who are also willing to do the dirty work.

“Odsonne wanted to come back because he enjoyed Celtic and the fans.

“He loved playing in front of a full stadium as well and he now calls this home.

“The French boys all seem to get on well which also helps.

“Their faces are always relaxed, but once they get on the pitch they show their qualities. They really are top quality players, and exactly the sort of players we want to have at Celtic.

“Plus they have a little bit of banter about them. It’s a great dressing-room, an open dressing room. They speak very good English — not so good Scottish!

“But it’s a great place for them to start their careers and push on.”
