Fake News Confirmation – Celtic not interested in bringing in Steve Hitchens

The Celtic Star can confirm this evening that Celtic are NOT on the verge of bringing in former Tottenham Hotspur and Liverpool transfer guru Steve Hitchens.

Speaking to a senior Celtic official, who works closely with the Celtic manager Ange Postecoglou today, following the Celtic FC Women’s magnificent seven nil victory over Glasgow Women, we took the opportunity to enquire about the Hitchens story which was broken late last night by Scottish Sun.

And clicking on the link to the Scottish Sun exclusive takes you to a page that now reads: “The Sun – Sorry page unavailable. We can’t seem to find the page you are looking for. Please return to our homepage.”

However the tabloid’s tweet is still available as you can see below…

Today we were told in no uncertain terms that this story has absolutely no foundation to it, Steve Hitchens was simply a guest at the game, attending in a personal capacity to get the chance to watch Ange Postecoglou’s side playing, and he certainly wasn’t disappointed.

But there are NO discussions at all taking place and Ange Postecoglou is NOT interested in such a move taking place and is probably annoyed by this story more than others. Memo to the Celtic fan media guys on rota duty this week, it might be worthwhile asking about this to allow Ange to have his say.

With Ange Postecoglou re-shaping the way the club operates it did seem strange that the Hitchens link was developing to somehow have him coming in as a Director of Football, yet ahead of the recent Scotland v Ireland international match at Hampden, Celtic B Team coach Darren O’Dea described Ange Postecoglou as a de facto Director of Football.

Regardless, we can confirm with 100% certainly that there is nothing in this story, with our Celtic source saying that someone’s spotted him at the game and are simply putting two and two together and coming up with seven (okay he said five). Asked if it’s fine to report on this on The Celtic Star, the reply, “absolutely, in fact please do, you’ll be doing Ange a favour.”

So folks please file this one from the mainstream media under fake news.
