First Team call-up for Joey Dawson and Owen Moffat

Both goal-scoring winger Owen Moffat striker Joey Dawson were notable omissions from the Celtic B squad that defeated East Stirlingshire in the Southern Division last night, prompting fair and reasonable speculation that both will be involved in the cinch Premiership match tomorrow afternoon against Motherwell at Celtic Park.

Here are a few Joey Dawson goals for you to consider. Might put your mind a easy?

Ange Postecoglou went into Thursday evening’s concluding Group stage Europa League match against Real Betis with two strikers in his squad – Albian Ajeti in the starting eleven and Kyogo on the bench. Both suffered injuries, Ajeti’s perhaps the more serious but Kyogo’s loss leaves the Celtic manager – who already has confirmed that summer signing Giorgos Giakoumakis is still sidelined with a knee problem that required a clear out – with no strikers at all for tomorrow.

It’s likely that the front three tomorrow will be Abada, Johnston and Forrest with Dawson and Moffat the back-ups who hopefully will be coming on as soon as Ange is able to make the changes. This front three includes two players who are injury prone to say the least, so keeping them fit and ready to play in the busy run of matches is going to be a challenge and require more luck than Celtic have had this season so far on the injury front.

Incidentally Celtic B won last night’s away match 1-0 thanks to another goal for Celtic from 16 year old Rocco Vata, a young Celtic Star in the making…

  1. I was too distracted by the awful defending to pay too much attention to the goals tbh…but…you never know . Some folk say this league is miles away from SPL standard. Moffat was easily eased off the ball by giant .I think Peston ? defenders pre season, we’ll see if he has progressed like big Ugo. Unfortunately these two are a game too late in being added to the squad.
