“Five may have been kind on Rangers,’ Celtic coaching staff on Beautiful Sunday

IN this week’s Celtic View the backroom staff all share their thoughts on Beautiful Sunday, a term that we pushed hard on The Celtic Star, so we were delighted that the club played the tune not once but twice on Sunday and have continued using Beautiful Sunday in the brilliant new edition of the club’s magazine.

Here’s some of what they have had to say about Beautiful Sunday…

“Walking around the pitch at the end of the game, I could see the celebrations and what it meant to people. We’re very privileged to work in football in the first place but add on to that the fact we’re working at a club that’s so unique, it’s amazing. I’ll remember this game for ever.” Chris Davies, Celtic Assistant Manager

“If you had to pick a way of doing it, this was probably the perfect way. If you get the opportunity to play at Celtic Park in front of your own fans against Rangers and win the title, then there is no better way.

“Seven titles is a amazing. We just have to make sure we keep striving to move forward and maintain the gap between us and our rivals. We have Hearts and we’ll be looking to build the momentum going into the Scottish Cup Final. If we perform like we did on Sunday, I don’t think many teams can live with us.” John Kennedy, First Team Coach

“We were very confident after the week we’d had. We could see how hard the players had been working. It was just an incredible day. I don’t know how much you can ask for. I’ve worked with Brendan for a long time and the consistency and standards he’s displayed since the first moment I met him have always been so high. I just can’t see that ever changing. He’s a great leader.” Glen Driscoll, Head of Performance

“It’s an absolute privilege to be part of seven successive titles. It was special to beat Rangers – one of the best performances of the season. The manager had us really up for the game and we were ready to pay him back for not doing as well against Hibs.

“Every single Celtic supporter stayed right to the end to show their appreciation and that’s not lost on the players, staff and management. We’d like to thank them for that. The fans were up for it from the first minute. They enabled us to play that high level of performance. Five may have been kind on Rangers – but we’ll take that.” Stevie Woods, Goalkeeping Coach
