Fixture Update – St Mirren v Celtic re-arranged for Wednesday 16 September

CELTIC will get the chance to move closer to the top of the Premiership this month with the news today that the postponed match away to St Mirren has been re-scheduled for Wednesday 16 September. This was one of the two matches called off due to the irresponsible behaviour of Boli Bolingoli in travelling to Spain for an overnight stay after the 5-1 opening day victory over Hamilton.

Nicola Sturgeon was less than pleased with this behaviour from the Celtic left back, a £3m signing from Rapid Vienna last July, and coupled with the Aberdeen players breaking the protocols by gathering en masse in a busy bar, the First Minister issued Scottish football with a yellow card and stated that neither club would be playing their next two games.

That meant Celtic’s trip to Paisley was postponed as well as the home tie against Aberdeen were postponed and it was difficult to envisage when these games could be played. Now though one window has been found, probably as a result of the Champions League exit last week (for which some blame must also rest with Bolingoli – had Celtic had two more games under their belts, the team would have been more up to speed for that game).

So Celtic are away to St Mirren on Wednesday 16 September, kick-off is 7.45pm. Hopefully it will be on Sky Sports.
