Flag Warning! Willo Flood had a Transfer Window named after him and a League title was lost

THE POKER NEWS this morning is that Peter has called Billy’s bluff after watching BT Sport last night and seeing Rosenborg fail to make the Champions League and not only that Birger Meling performed admirably at left back.

Peter knew that Billy would be watching too and he would have been encouraged by Rosenborg’s early goal when it looked very much like the Norwegians were going to do it. An equaliser deflated both Billy and the Norwegians but a quick call to the Record to drop in ‘news’ that Sunderland were now interested in signing Greg Taylor would do the trick. ‘I’ll call The Record, to call Peter’ Billy thought to himself.

Yesterday we outlined the emerging late summer Poker Battle for 2019. Last year it was Peter v Rod and that one resulted in a huge victory for the East-Coaster so Peter is hungry for a win this time around. There are those who question the need to have these battles at all, a few hundred grand extra last summer would have done the trick and likewise this summer.

On Sunday, after the fine 3-1 win over Hearts, Neil Lennon promised 2 or 3 players coming in this week who would be on the plane going to Sweden. You might have read this elsewhere, we didn’t bother reporting on it on Sunday evening or Monday morning. It was just, well, rather unbelievable.

We hoped and prayed that we’d be proved wrong on that one. Fingers crossed and all that.

“I look for pace, stamina, enthusiasm and a bit of quality helps too. I don’t want anyone who hides. Bravery is important here as well.

“We need presence, quality and personality on the pitch. We are hoping the ones that have come in can settle and can be a success here,” Lennon said.

But nothing has happened regarding arrivals. There’s been the Poker action of course with both participants blatantly bluffing but we’ll have to wait until the last minute to find out how that one plays out. It’s highly unlikely that anyone is arriving in time to get on that plane to Stockholm.

Yesterday Celtic were linked with a loan move for RS Salzburg left back development player Gideon Mensah. That news excited no-one, even if he was apparently on the verge of a sensational move to Barcelona before it all fell through.

To be fair to Peter, he’s got to keep an eye on the players he’s already got to see if he can cash in before Monday. After Zenit’s ‘interest’ in both Tom Rogic and James Forrest this summer they have turned their ‘attention’ to Kris Ajer – that’s over £30,000,000 in ‘bids’ right there for these three Celtic stars, trouble is it’s all a complete load of nonsense.

Scotty Sinclair could be off loaded with apparent interest from the MSL. The only trouble is that the Treble Treble winner quite likes it at Celtic and that’s why he signed his new contract that Peter offered him at the end of last season.

You wonder whose decision it is to play Lewis Morgan ahead of Scotty whose stats at Celtic are up there with Henrik’s after three years wearing the Hoops. Morgan’s stats could probably be compared to someone like Willo Flood who had a Transfer Window named after him thanks to Peter and as a result a League title was lost.

If you know your history Peter.
