Forgotten Celtic attacker named in Asia Cup squad

Celtic winger Marco Tilio has been named in Australia’s Asia Cup squad despite a lacklustre start to life with the Scottish Champions. The 22-year-old has been included in Graham Arnold’s squad as they look to win their first title since 2015 – when Ange was at the helm.

Former Celtic midfielder Jackson Irvine is included but it is strange to see a Socceroos team without Aaron Mooy or Tom Rogic.

Celtic signed Tilio from Melbourne City for $2m as they looked to strengthen in the attacking third.

Tilio came off the bench in Celtic’s draw against Motherwell but then dropped out of the first team picture. Along with Yang, the Australian represents a ‘project signing’ given his success with City in his homeland.

Brendan has said that he wants quality and it is expected that he will go into the transfer market and bring first team players in.
