Former Celt Armstrong Oxo-Flex rubs salt into Celtic wounds with a 6th West Ham goal

Former Celt Armstrong Oko-Flex has rubbed salt into his old club’s wounds by coming off the bench to add a sixth goal for West Ham at Paradise this afternoon. That makes it three goals conceded by both of the Celtic goalkeepers Vasilis Barkas and Scott Bain. Dear knows which one Ange Postecoglou will opt to start on Wednesday night in Jutland.

The FC Midtjylland striker will be rubbing their hands watching this defensive horror show from Celtic this afternoon. The blame can’t be placed on the manager who is late to the ‘party’ and has only had a few weeks to work with the squad and if he didn’t know before Ange certainly knows now that the defensive side of this squad is nowhere near good enough to compete.

Dom McKay said he planned to surprise and delight the Celtic support. Well no-one was surprised today with that shocking defensive display and the only people delighted will be the Danes we’re playing on Wednesday night. Ange needs a miracle to get us through that one.

Time to smell the coffee, Celtic.

Chris Sutton is spot on here with where the blame lies.

  1. Jim O'Rourke on

I thought we were a shambles for about 80 percent of the game. Very little comfort apart from abada and Christie link up play.

  2. Can’t judge the season on this poor showing . There was some pleasing quick passing interchanges going forward but on losing the ball we were so vulnerable to the quick break .

Don’r forget we were playing with two young , inexperienced CHs , but the lack of protection for them from midfield was clear in most of the goals . We were so intent on attack that we forgot to defend .

Once we get Starfelt and Julian in , and get two decent fullbacks we will be in better shape .
The CL should not be a consideration at this time – it was ‘thrown away’ several times by Lennon with a settled team , so don’t blame Ange P this time !
