Former Celtic loanee Charly Musonda on look-out for a new club

Former Celtic loanee, Charly Musonda is to become a free agent this summer after posting the news on Instagram today. Along with a highlights reel of himself he posted: “Enjoying the final ride, while training and slowly getting ready for what lies ahead, with continued faith and optimism.”

The skilful Musonda was signed by Brendan Rodgers in the January transfer window of 2018. Rodgers was looking for an extra bit of quality to add to his side and saw the young Musonda as the perfect fit for his style of play. Rodgers had connections at Chelsea which made the move for Musonda even more of a no-brainer.

Their was much excitement around the signing of Musonda, although this did dissipate as he never really lived up to his reputation in a Celtic shirt. Having said that, he did come on against Zenit in the Europa League to set-up Callum McGregor for the winner that night at Paradise. A small glimpse perhaps into the abundance of talent the youngster had.

Sadly, ties were severed merely six months into his loan spell, with Musonda not getting the much wanted and needed game-time he thought he would coming up to Scotland. He has endured a somewhat tumultuous time in his early career with injury and lack of regular games.

Now, the Belgian wants to kick-start his career somewhere else and is looking for prospective employers. One things for sure, if there’s any coach that can get him ticking they will be in for a treat. His technical ability on the ball is there for all to see. With the correct coach and football club, Musonda could resurrect his floundering career to date.

So could Celtic be a possibility for Musonda?  Sadly for Charly, it doesn’t seem likely at all. We do however wish  Charly the best of luck and hope that he gets the move he’s after.

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
