Former Celtic Star Tom Rogic set to join West Brom

Some good news today regarding Celtic legend Tom Rogic who appears to have found a new home for his outstanding football ability as he looks set to sign as a free agent for English Championship side West Brom.

John Percy, the Daily Telegraph’s Midlands Football Reporter has provided this update today stating:

“Former Celtic midfielder Tom Rogic is in talks with West Bromich Albion and expected to sign. Rogic is a free agent after leaving Celtic at the end of last season.”

Rogic has been in no particular rush to secure a new club following his emotional exit from Paradise on trophy day back in May, after almost a decade of outstanding service to Celtic. That winner in the 2017 Scottish Cup Final over Aberdeen to complete an Invincible treble will remain one of the iconic Celtic goals of all time.

Yet Rogic scored so many special and important goals for Celtic, his equaliser at Ibrox back in April this year stopped the tide turning back in their favour in the cinch Premiership and allowed Celtic to go on to win that match and of course secure the title a month or so later.

Tom Rogic, we understand,  was looking to leave Celtic a year earlier but along with Israeli international Nir Bitton, who also played for Celtic for nine years, he decided to stay for an additional year to afford Ange Postecoglou, his former national coach at the Socceroos, the opportunity to get his own revolution started in the East End of Glasgow.

With the title won and Tom Rogic playing a significant role in that achievement Rogic was given an incredible, emotional send off from the 60,000 Celtic supporters in that game against Motherwell back in May and it brought the usually laid back Aussie to tears with the emotion of it all.

With the World Cup fast approaching Rogic will want to hit the ground running at WBA and secure his spot on the plane to Qatar.  The entire support will certainly wish Tom Rogic the very best for his time at West Brom and for any of their fans reading this and wonder what kind of player you are getting, we’ll say this. Your new signing will be head and shoulders, the best player in the Championship this season.
