Former Celtic winger McGeady on bench for Ibrox showdown

Former Celtic winger, Aiden McGeady has been included in the Matchday squad for Hibernian as they take on theRangers at Ibrox tonight. Lee Johnson said he wasn’t afraid to throw the Republic of Ireland man into the mix on his return from injury recently, but it looks like the ex-Sunderland man will have to settle for a place on the bench.

This will be Aiden’s first trip back to Ibrox since the new club formed in 2012, following an ignominious exit from Scottish football from the 1872 Rangers. No doubt he will be given a lovely, warm welcome by the new club, as they have cleaned the slate and gotten rid of their bigoted ways… oh wait… my bad!

It will be the return of cinch Premiership league action and should theRangers drop points tonight, it would give Ange Postecoglou and his team the opportunity to pile on the agony as they say in Glasgow’s East End. A cameo from McGeady to get something from the game for Hibs would be truly outstanding this evening.

It will be Mick Beale’s first competitive game in charge of the ten-year-old club and he has done some amount of taking beforehand. Now will be the time to show what he’s got as they will be baying for blood before too long if he fails to live up to the courage of his pronouncements. Time will tell on that front.

But for now, good luck, Aiden!

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
