Former Liverpool midfielder praises ‘quality’ Celtic youngster

Former Liverpool and Rangers midfielder Charlie Adam has heaped praise on Celtic’s Bosun Lawal, who he is currently managing with EFL League One side Fleetwood Town. Lawal scored a brilliant goal in Fleetwood’s 2-1 defeat to Barnsley. The Irish youngster is on a season-long loan with the League One outfit and despite Scott Brown’s departure, he is continuing to impress.

As reported by Balls.ie, Adam was full of praise for his young midfielder, insisting that he has the credentials to be a Celtic player and that his team will benefit from his attributes in the second half of the season.

“He was the best player on the pitch. Unfortunately, he’s not our player, he’s a Celtic player but it’s a real privilege to have him. He’s a quality player, he dominated the game. His strength, his power and it was an unbelievable strike.

“The longer he’s in the building for us, from now until the end of the season, he will definitely make a difference to our team. He’s a top talent but hopefully with the journey we’re on and the support that we can give him, that he goes back to Celtic next season and he goes and competes for a position, because I believe he’s got the right credentials to be a Celtic player.”

The 20-year-old has been featuring as a midfielder for Fleetwood and curled in an exquisite effort – his second of the season. Ange gave Lawal his first appearance for the club in a substitute appearance against Morton last year. In 33 appearances, he has impressed after stepping out of the backline and taking his place in the middle of the park.

It will be interesting to see what the summer brings for the player, who has experienced first team football this term, meaning that he will likely wish to continue in this upward trajectory under Rodgers at Celtic. It is interesting that the attributes that Rodgers has spoken about in the past would certainly fit the bill of Lawal.
