Fran Alonso takes team on Celtic Park Tour to brush up on their history ahead of game in Paradise

Fran Alonso has taken his entire Celtic FC Women squad on the Stadium Tour at Celtic Park ahead of the team playing in front of the Celtic support at Paradise on Saturday 26 March with a 3pm kick-off. This match is FREE to Celtic season ticket holders but the deadline is tomorrow so get online and order your tickets which will be posted out to you by Celtic free of charge.

The idea behind the tour initiative was to re-enforce the message that Celtic is indeed a club like. no other and that Celtic Park is a very special place to play your football. Many of Alonso’s current crop of players weren’t at the club the last time the Women’s team played at Celtic Park against theRangers towards the end of last season. The Ghirls won that one 1-0 but the game was of course played behind closed doors.

A week on Saturday that will be very different as Celtic FC Women look set to break the SWPL1 attendance record of around 5500 whereas Fran Alonso is looking to better the 17,000 crowd that the Scotland national women’s team achieved at Hampden.

Alosno’s Celtic FC Women squad has an international theme to it with players from countries such as China, New Zealand, United States, Canada and Iceland so you can appreciate that the depth of knowledge about the club they play for might not be that deep. After their day on the Celtic Tour that certainly has changed and hopefully the players will respond in a positive manner next weekend.

Celtic FC Women’s Assistant Manager David Haley spoke to Celtic TV about the benefits of taking the team on the stadium tour. Luckily for the girls Matt Corr wasn’t the tour guide that day or they’d still be there listening to him!

Frank is the Tour Guide talking the Ghirls through their club’s history and he notes that the Women’s League Cup proudly takes it’s place in the Celtic trophy cabinet. Hopefully the Ghirls will be adding the Scottish Cup too!

Here’s Fran Alonso talking the the Celtic Fan Media to preview the game at Celtic Park against Hibs next Saturday….
