Friday Night under the lights, 2024’s first Glasgow Derby

Best of luck to Celtic FC Women tonight in the Glasgow Derby…

Celtic FC Women take on their Glasgow rivals theRangers tonight at the Excelsior Stadium in Airdrie with a place in the Sky Sports League Cup final at stake. It promises to be a great occasion under the lights, and a big crowd is expected in what will be new manager Elena Sadiku’s first game in charge of the Ghirls.

Both sides have had excellent starts to the season, so this has the potential to be a superb game which will only further raise the profile of the women’s game in this country. With the men’s game being on a break at the moment many punters will flock to the game to make up a decent crowd, so the atmosphere should be top notch with both sets of fans attending the game.

Let’s hope it’s the Celtic players and supporters who are celebrating at the end. Not only will a win over our rivals boost the confidence of the side, it will also give them a chance of picking up the first bit of silverware on offer this season in the final which will be played at Tynecastle in March.

Hopefully we are all celebrating later on tonight and if you want to read more about tonight’s game check out our Women’s Football Writer Jessica Elliott’s brilliant Match Preview that was published on The Celtic Star this morning. I loved all those photographs at the end of the article – well worth checking out.

My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
