Frimpong Cannot Wait for European Bow

Jeremie Frimpong has declared his excitement for his European debut, should he be selected against Copenhagen in the Europa League Last 32 tie.

Frimpong wasn’t included in the European squad for the group stages but has since made his breakthrough with the first team after Hatem Abd Elhamed was injured against Lazio.

Speaking to the Celtic View, the ex-Man City youngster stated how playing in Europe has always been a dream of his and now he is relishing the opportunity.

“I’ve been wanting to play in European competition for the longest time.

“If I get the chance to play in the last 32 tie, that’ll be a dream come true for me.

“To play for Celtic in Europe? It’s quality. Even the thought of it gets me excited.”

Frimpong has had to settle for a seat in the stands as Celtic topped the group. The Dutch youngster has pointed to the wins over Lazio that made him desperate to get on the pitch himself and sample the European game.

“Seeing Celtic Park, the fans, it’s a sell-out, it’s crazy.

“When Chris Jullien scored the header right near the end against Lazio, the fans went totally nuts – and I was going mental with them.

“I watched the Lazio game in Rome in my house, I put it up on my Instagram, I was over the moon. What a goal to win it with as well! Olivier Ntcham was clinical.”

Celtic travel to Copenhagen on February 20 before the return fixture at Celtic Park  a week later. Frimpong will be hoping to be taking his place on the pitch if he can keep a fit Elhamed out the team.
