Frimpong Injury Latest: “He’s Fine” says Neil Lennon

Jeremie Frimpong has not suffered a long lasting injury and will be available to face Kilmarnock on Sunday. The Dutch wing back suffered a heavy blow to his head early in the match, which caused Chris Sutton to point out that the rush to get him back into the action was ill-advised, then was brought down from behind inside the box to win Celtic a penalty – which captain for the night Callum McGregor converted.

Frimpong was forced to go off and it looked like he’d be out for a while a he hobbled away, going up the tunnel for further treatment. However he’ll be available for selection on Sunday as Neil Lennon told the media today that Frimpong is fine, see below.

With Ewan Henderson replacing Frimpong and himself having an outstanding game the competition for places on Sunday is going to be intense. The first team regulars who dropped out last night – and annoyingly we called for this to have happened for the Cup games against Ross County – have all been upstaged by the likes of Hazard, Soro, Turnbull and Henderson and might find their way back into the team blocked. Patryk Klimala showed up well too and certainly none of these NEW Bhoys lacked energy or commitment.

Certainly Turnbull and Soro must surely be certainties to start on Sunday and Hazard and Henderson must be in with a shout too.

As far as the planned protest goes, yesterday we suggested raising the scarfs and singing YMWA as the team goes past, but maybe it would be better all round to postpone this protest and just get behind the team?
