Game Iced Off – Celtic v Motherwell Match this Afternoon Postponed

Fran Alonso’s Celtic FC Women side was scheduled to play Motherwell in the final match of 2022 this lunchtime at the Excelsior Stadium. However following a pitch inspection this morning the match has now been postponed due to the icy conditions in Airdrie.

The Celtic B team match on Friday evening was also postponed but there will be no such frustrations on Wednesday evening when the attention turns back to Celtic Park where Ange Postecoglou’s Champions take on Livingston in the first of two home matches before Christmas, with St Johnstone the visitors at the weekend.

But for Fran Alonso and his exciting Celtic side, that’s 2022 done and dusted. The hardy but growing band of supporters for The Celtic FC Women’s side will instead have the not inconsiderable compensation of being able to match the World Cup final this afternoon.

And maybe next summer we’ll be watching the Women’s World Cup where the likes of Clarissa Larisey (Canada), Olivia Chance (New Zealand), Jacynta (Australia) and Claire O’Riordan (Ireland) could all be playing.

Well done to Fran and the Ghirls for a memorable 2022 with the highlight being that never-to-be-forgotten Scottish Cup Final win over Glasgow City back in May, you’ll love watching this again…
