KRC Genk have secured Eboue Kouassi on a three year deal from Celtic. The 22-year-old Ivorian midfielder moved to Genk on loan in January until the end of the season, with the option to make the deal permanent.
Much life his time in Glasgow, Eboue suffered an injury which restricted him to just four appearances before the Belgian top-flight season was postponed due to coronavirus. Nevertheless, Genk appear to have signed him on a permanent basis, for a fee that is not yet disclosed.
This is good news for the Hoops as they clear some dead wood off the wage bill and recoup some of the £2.8m that they paid for the player from Krasnodar.
Kouassi struggled at Celtic, playing only 22 games in three years. He performed well in the Europa League first leg clash with Zenit a few years ago, but positive moments were few and far between during his time at Paradise although we was performing well in the League Cup semi-final against Hearts at Murrayfield before going down with a serious injury.
