‘Glass Half Full’ – It’s Episode 4 of Celtic Minded Podcast I’m Frank and he’s Tommy

Tommy Sheridan and the former Celtic striker Frank McGarvey are back with episode 4 of their new and highly entertaining Celtic minded podcast “I’m Frank and he’s Tommy” and the pair pick over the bones of the Glasgow Derby defeat on Sunday against theRangers at Ibrox.

One of the great things about this podcast is the stories Frank inevitably tells us about his own time at the club in the first half of the 1980s and for Celtic Supporters of a certain vintage the manner in which he left the club after scoring an incredible winning goal for Celtic in the 1985 Scottish Cup Final was both controversial and disappointing in equal measures and even now, looking back on this many would still say that Davie Hay made a mistake.

Last week Frank pointed out something that we in the support noticed at the time. While he would score plenty he also worked so hard and created many goals for Charlie Nicholas yet Frank noted that in their time playing together Nicholas probably only had two assists on McGarvey goals. Frank didn’t mind though, he was playing for Celtic and that was more than enough for him.

We used to call Frank the Rubber Man and maybe if you watch the 1985 Scottish Cup winner again you’ll see why. In this podcast Frank talks through what happened that ended up with his playing days at Celtic coming to an end. Well worth listen as always as the two Celts talk talk about the Europa League situation, the defeat at Ibrox and the club’s transfer window activity as well as Frank’s own departure from playing for Celtic.
