Greek journalist confirms Celtic exploring Barkas exit options

Vasilis Barkas will leave Celtic this summer and the club are exploring options – that’s the latest news from reliable Greek journalist Giannis Chorianopoulos. The former AEK Athens man has fallen down the pecking order at the club since Ange Postecoglou took over. The establishment of Joe Hart as Celtic’s No.1 is obvious so a move for Barkas makes sense for all parties.

Barkas has made just two appearances this season but finds himself down the pecking order at Celtic. The arrival of Hart as well as Scott Bain being given a new deal suggests that the prospect of breaking back into the first team is slim. The former £4.5m man will be keen to get his career back on track by sealing a move away from Celtic, it would be in everyone’s best interests if this could be achieved at the earliest possible opportunity.

It will be interesting to see what teams come in for Barkas, considering that he is said to be on £20k per week. A return to Greece could very well be on the cards but it means that Celtic will likely take a hit on the outlay from 2020.
