Scott Brown tipped for sensational Celtic return, according to report

Celtic legend Scott Brown announced yesterday that he would leave Aberdeen with immediate effect. The 36-year-old left Glasgow last summer for a player-coach role under Stephen Glass but following his pal’s sacking at Pittodrie, Brown has decided to move on.

Now, a sensational return to Celtic could be on the cards according to The Sun. The midfielder hasn’t clarified whether he has retired from playing but he is wanting to pursue coaching opportunities and Ange Postecoglou may be able to offer him this path.

Celtic are believed to be currently recruiting an Under-18s coach to work alongside Stuart McLaren. Although, should Brown become available, he may see a role in Celtic’s B Team open up given his connection with the club. Celtic wanted to retain Brown last summer but the agreement he had reached with Glass offered a new opportunity for Brown. Unfortunately, the move hasn’t worked out, even if Brown has been able to summon some fine individual performances.

The midfielder bowed out at Celtic after 620 appearances and 22 trophies in the Green and White. The opportunity to make it as a coach will motivate Brown but an opportunity to coach a first team may also interest him, with a number of opportunities likely to present themselves in the next few days.

Goodwin made his feelings regarding Broony’s coaching role quite clear and the former Scotland Internationalist clearly saw the writing on the wall. Having moved back to Edinburgh, Brown will need to look at managing his career as a coach with the pressures of a young family. Following the pressures of an extensive playing career, Brown might like the opportunity of coaching youth players and following in the path of former teammates, Stephen McManus and John Kennedy, who are on the first team coaching staff now.
