Green Brigade blast ‘misleading’ Celtic statement

The Green Brigade have responded to the statement by Celtic earlier today in which they were accused of hijacking the Scott Brown farewell at Celtic Park tonight with another demonstration. The supporters in the North Curve Celtic group had displayed Palestinian flags in the ground with the backdrop of rising hostility in the region after Israeli airstrikes left over 40 dead.

The club, however, decided to take these flags down, which commemorated a Celtic supporter that died recently, who was a friend of both Celtic and Palestine.

In a statement released on Twitter, The Green Brigade blasted the ‘misleading’ statement by the club and had to justify their banners, the display for Brown and the relationship between Salah Ajarma and the club.

It is sad in what has been a woeful season on the park that the club have decided to pick yet another time to damage the relationship with the support.

Last night a number of Celtic players, including Odsonne Edouard, used their social media accounts to highlight the atrocities that were occurring in Palestine yet the club have moved against the decision to show solidarity with the Palestinian people.
