Half Time Analysis: Celtic 1-2 St Mirren

Celtic took to the field for the first time since Peter Lawwell’s resignation was announced. The mood among the support was different with change in store and fans looked to see us put together a decent performance, knowing that the title race is as good as over.

Neil Lennon was able to name an unchanged side from the win over Hamilton, a rare luxury in this bizarre and disastrous season.

Celtic started on the front and registered their first shot in the 4th minute, when Elyounoussi teed up Callum McGregor, who blazed over. He should have put Leigh Griffiths through on goal. It took until the 15th minute for the next opportunity when Griffiths and Elyounoussi were involved again. That time, the former crossed for the Norwegian who headed over from close range.

After all the early chances, the visitors took the lead with their first attack on 18 minutes. Kristian Dennis scored that goal having found himself in acres of space.

After an even period of play, Odsonne Edouard coolly slotted home a McGregor cut back to equalise, but shoddy defending by Shane Duffy allowed the Buddies to go ahead again five minutes later.

The scores stayed that way going into the break – a dismal 45 minutes.
