Happy Birthday to ‘Holy Goalie’ Artur Boruc

Happy Birthday to ex-Celtic goalkeeper Artur Boruc who turns 40 today. Boruc was a fan favourite during his five year stay at Paradise due to his brilliant saves and ability to noise up the other lot.

Birthday Bhoy Boruc was playing for Celtic on this day in 2007 as AC Milan arrived at Celtic Park for the Last 16 of the UEFA Champions League. The Polish ‘keeper made some vital stops to keep the tie level at 0-0. Albeit he’d be beaten in extra time in the return leg at the San Siro after a world class display to keep AC at bay within the 90 minutes.

Boruc, who signed from Legia Warsaw in 2005, was nicknamed the ‘Holy Goalie’ by supporters due to the fact he blessed himself before he entered the goal, which obviously upset Rangers supporters for some reason.

Here are a few of the ‘keeper’s best moments in a Celtic shirt which include that brilliant penalty save against Louis Saha in the Champions League and countless brave saves.

However, here is the sensational moment that the Holy Goalie grabbed a ‘Champions’ flag out the Free Broomloan and decided to run it along back to the tunnel, winding up those that remained in Ibrox.
