Hard to defend the indefensible. Wilfried Nancy is a busted flush

Well all I can say after that debacle was that I tried to keep the faith, I tried my best to remain upbeat and I tried to highlight the few positives we have seen under Wilfried Nancy…

Unfortunately I’ve got to the point where I’m finding it hard to defend the indefensible. Wilfried Nancy is a busted flush. It would take a monumental swing in fortune to recover from this in the eyes of the Celtic fans. Lose on Saturday and he’s done. That’s a fact, there can be no doubting it. If Nancy loses against a bang average theRangers side then he will never recover.

Motherwell played Celtic off the park

That was an absolute horror show last night. Motherwell played us off the park. They played the type of system that Wilfried Nancy aspires to play. Our players cost serious money. They are paid handsomely. Tonight they looked like a Celtic reserve team and that’s being kind. International players who looked like they would struggle to get a game with their local Sunday league team. It felt like we were playing a top European team not Motherwell.

Fair play to Motherwell by the way who have improved massively under their new manager but for Celtic to get dominated in such fashion is nothing short of an embarrassment.

That performance was genuinely up there with one of the worst I’ve ever had the displeasure of witnessing. From the start it felt almost like we were playing with a few men short. We were constantly caught short of numbers at the back when Motherwell attacked. We also had no one up front when we moved forward. It was hard to work out where our players actually were. International players, men who have won multiple trophies at Celtic, could hardly string two passes together.

About Author

Hailing from Cushendall in the North of Ireland my formative years were spent watching Celtic during our barren spell through the 90's which meant I have appreciated our recent trophy-laden spell even more. Favourite matches home and away I've attended has to be beating Man Utd 1-0 at Celtic Park and being with my 2 brothers watching us beat Lazio 2-1 in Rome. Best away day experience? Has to be Munich with friends from Coatbridge...what a few days!

  1. Unfortunately the rearranged deck chairs are sinking.
I dread the approach of Sat.
    🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻 but miracles do happen.
It’s a long road has no turning.
    Hail Hail.

  2. After the last couple of months the Board have put themselves in a position where they need to critically decide to fold or throw in some chips.
A Board with an appalling track record in recent times for doing what’s best for the fans and whats best for the club.
I can’t see them changing their spots, but for me there is no further debate required even if we won against R****rs.

Take a step back in time and ask yourself “do you want the next Celtic manager to be a guy that throws away all of MONs efforts, throws away the players confidence, and loses 5 out of 7 games?”. Yes or no?

And now potentially the same Board throw money at the problem they created? I don’t think so.

Nancy and Nicholson need to have the door hitting their backsides on the way out ASAP.

  3. If he wants to save his job he’d do well to watch over the 3 games MO managed prior to his arrival and copy these tactics until he recruits his style of players.

Last chance saloon on Saturday. I’m deludedly praying that a derby game at home provides a catalyst. A side note; How often does Liam Scales find it necessary to put his studs over a completely static football taking 3,4,5 touches losing valuable time looking around like he’s in dense fog? He’s played like that since day dot for us. Another example of poor recruitment leading to us fielding technically inferior bench warmers. A very limited footballer. Motherwell made sure he had that fucking boot over the ball most of our possession. Having said that all 11 were gash. KS has lost it. He’s fat and fucking slow.

I agree with all comments here, especially those highlighting Scales and KS. Wilfried Nancy speaks more like a psychologist than a coach, which makes me wonder if he’s in the right profession. He came from the sub-standard MLS League because he is a sub-standard manager who just happened to know someone who knows Paul Tisdale. You really couldn’t make this garbage up.

Even if Nancy wins Saturday’s game, can any fan really trust him to go any kind of unbeaten run afterwards? Not a chance, he’s a reckless manager, completely out of touch with the realities of Scottish football, not to mention European football. The kindest thing for him and the suffering players and fans who have to endure his crackpot footballing style is to send him straight back to where he came from. We all know his time is up, so why would the Board risk further damage before the do the right thing? Oh yes, I momentarily forgot about the arrogance and incompetence of the Celtic Board. I mean, what other major club in the world would have signed a would-be psychologist as their head coach? It’s absoultely nuts now!

I would add here that if Dermot Desmond allows this clown to lead Celtic out on Saturday, knowing what the result will be, then everyone and his dog can throw back in his face the accusation he made against Brendan Rodgers, ie. that he was a selfish man putting himself first before the team and the club. We need not only a Nancy clear out, but a Board clear out. It’s Desmind and his incompetent Board who have brought the club to this disgraceful point of disintegration. They have to go as well, and quickly.

  7. I agree with everything these guys are saying about this man ,he does not know or understand our football style ,most of the guys that played last night were the same guys who helped win the league last season but last night’s performance looked as if bus that drove them to Motherwell last night just stopped at a park and asked guys them to jump on the bus and play for Celtic there is NO understanding of how to play football by passing the ball from one player to another player with the same shirt it never happened, what in god’s name has happened to hatate he actually looks lost in the middle of the park he looks now as if he dropped all his footballing skills and cannot get it back ,and the other Japanese the striker he has no football skills at all who ever sighed this young man should be sacked Saturday is just round the corner and we have a team of players who cannot play football any more even if we win on Saturday which we will not we are not a team we need and need again a complete overhaul of players and it looks like we have no one within the scout team who can spot a player anymore .What the fans need to know is WHAT THE HELL IS GOING ON WITHIN THE WALLS OF PARKHEAD SOMEONE FROM THE BOARD MUST STAND UP AND BE COUNTED AND EXPLAIN HOW WE HAVE FELL DOWN FROM BEEN SO HIGH AND NOW WE ARE FREE FALLING TO NOTHING SURELY THE BOARD CANNOT BE HAPPY ON HOW THIS MAN HAS NO IDEA ON HOW TO MANAGE A FOOTBALL TEAM AGAIN THEY MUST BE HAVING MEETINGS CONCERNING WHAT HAS HAPPENED TO US SINCE BR HAS LEFT US ,and if we don’t change our ways we will start to lose the good players that we have left what we need is ANOTHER MR F M,CAN TO HELP US BECAUSE MR D.DESMOND HAS TO COME OUT OUT AND LET US KNOW HOW THIS GUY GOT THIS POSITION AND DO IT FAST JUST LIKE HE WAS FAST TO ACCUSE B. RODGER S SO BOART GET THY FINGER OUT AND DO IT NOW .
