Bayern Munich talisman Harry Kane picked up an injury in the top of the table Bundesliga match against current German Champions Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend…

As a consequence the England captain was immediately regarded as being doubtful for the UEFA Champions League game against Celtic tomorrow night in the Allianz Arena.
German reports today confirm that Kane, who scored what turned out to be the winning goal at Celtic Park last Wednesday night in the 2-1 win for Bayern, missed training today. However it appears that Kane was left out of training as a precautionary measure and as things stand he is set to face Celtic tomorrow night.

Anyone hoping for Kane will be forced to sit out the match to lessen the threat to theCeltic goal looks like being disappointed. The Hoops are to turn around the tie with a two goal victory, and conceding at the other end just makes the tough enough task into something akin to Mission Impossible. So keeping the Bayern attack quiet and Kasper Schmeichel’s clean sheet in tact for the entire match in the Allianz is only half of Celtic’s mammoth task.
The ‘Bayern and Germany’ account reports:
“Harry Kane was not seen with the team during the final training, but there’s still no official update from the club. According to the club’s commentator, Vincent Kompany will answer later in the press conference.”

Then they update this saying:
“Harry Kane suffered a knock against Bayer Leverkusen – he didn’t train today as a precaution. His participation against Celtic tomorrow is not in jeopardy.” [@SPORT1]

So unless there’s some bluffing going on it looks like Harry Kane will be starting against Celtic after all, but may not be 100% fit. Vincent Kompany’s media conference this afternoon will shed more light on this for us.

Celtic, thankfully appear not to have any new injury worries with Paulo Bernardo and James Forrest both missing this tie.

Bernardo picked up an ankle injury in the Scottish Cup win over Raith Rovers and will be out for five weeks, while James Forrest has yet to play this year after his injury was picked up in the Premier Sports League Cup Final win over theRangers in December. Forrest is now back in training but will be a few weeks away from being considered for a match-day squad.
But it’s all eyes on Munich and Celtic’s pursuit of a first ever win in a competitive match on German soil.
