Celtic coach, Harry Kewell is in the process of finalising his backroom staff before he departs Celtic Park for Japan. The Australian was brought to the club two years ago, when fellow countryman Ange Postecoglou added the former Liverpool and Leeds United winger to his coaching staff. It was a successful move all round which garnered major results as the Hoops romped to a domestic Treble last season.

The club’s wingers have all remarked how positive an influence Kewell has been on their own respective careers’ but more importantly, around the whole team up at Lennoxtown generally. Kewell was always going to harbour ambitions of moving into management again at some point following his stint in the English lower leagues with various employers.

Now that we know the man that Ange brought to the club is indeed leaving in the next few days and has just to finalise the members of his own backroom staff for his new adventure. Brendan Rodgers has previously mentioned he wouldn’t stand in any of his coaches’ way if they wanted to try their own hand at management on their own away from Parkhead.

That now looks like becoming a reality and Celtic will once again be on the lookout for a fresh recruit at Paradise. Harry replaced Damien Duff in essence, after he decided to go his own way a few years back when Postecoglou first came into the club. We’re back to square one in this respect again and no doubt Brendan Rodgers will have his own ideas and perhaps even an eye on someone who he knows well.

About Author

I'm a Garngad Bhoy through and through. My first ever Celtic game was a friendly against Italian side Parma at Celtic Park, in 2002. Currently a student of English Literature and Education at the University of Strathclyde for my sins. Favourite game would be a toss up between beating Manchester United with that Naka freekick, or the game against the Oldco when Hesselink scored in the dying seconds. I'm still convinced Cal Mac is wasted playing that far back.
