Hatate’s magical moment settles Pittodrie showdown

Reo Hatate was the match winner last night as his 78th minute strike proved to be the difference between the top two sides in the country on a dreadfully cold, wet and windy night at Pittodrie…

Wet and blustery conditions

The wet and blustery conditions clearly affected the game and it wasn’t exactly a great spectacle, and it proved to be more of a battle than a beautiful game of football. It suited Aberdeen more than Celtic as it was a great leveller, closing the gap in quality between the two sides on the night.

Players of both sides put in nothing less than one hundred percent commitment, but it was a moment of class that would prove the difference between the sides.

Greg Taylor put in a superb ball to Reo Hatate in the Aberdeen penalty area and the Japanese midfielder took a superb touch before firing by former Celt Ross Doohan in the Aberdeen goal.

A brilliant goal from a superb player

It was a brilliant goal from a superb player, and it was the sort of game that needed that injection of quality, and thankfully it was Reo who provided that. We shouldn’t overlook the contribution either of Greg Taylor who brilliantly assisted Reo. Sometimes Greg is unfairly seen as a scapegoat, so it’s only fair that he gets credit when he does something exceptional.

It might not have easy on the eyes, but we won and that’s the main thing. Meaning we are seven points clear with a game in hand. The title is quite firmly in our hands.

Above us only sky

Well done to Lubo98 who predicted a 1-0 Celtic victory in his match preview yesterday afternoon on The Celtic Star, published before setting off for Pittodrie to stand totally exposed in the open with the North Sea wind at his back and bucket loads of rain falling on a section of our support.

But ultimately he was watching Glasgow Celtic, putting on a show and would not have missed it for the world…

Just an Ordinary Bhoy

How Reo Hatate controlled the ball like he did to take it down & finish like that was just pure class ⚽️🍀👌

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.
