Have Celtic made approach for highly-rated Norwegian midfielder?

Celtic are in the middle of a giant rebuilding job but there is one task in particular that stands out, replacing Scott Brown in Celtic’s midfield. There are some that will say that Brown’s influence was depleting as he nears his 36th birthday but there are many that accept the enormous role that he still had on the pitch, breaking up play and starting it again.

Ismaila Soro emerged during the season as a potential contender to replace Brown but he fell away towards the end of the season. Now, a report in Norway has suggested that an unnamed Scottish side have made an approach to Bødo-Glimt about signing Patrick Berg. If anyone on Twitter follows the brilliant Everything Celtic account, they have been vocal in their support for signing Berg. Now, VGNETT have claimed that the Scottish side have sought to sign the Norwegian Internationalist.

Celtic have recruited well from Norway with Kris Ajer, Mikael Lustig and Kris Ajer all being picked up from Norwegian clubs. It is an emerging talent pool and one in which Celtic should be extremely interested in. The fee quoted of £1.3m speaks to excellent value for a mobile, tenacious and talented midfielder.

The 23-year-old is well placed to replace Brown and add some quality to the Celtic midfield. Hopefully it is Celtic that have made this approach and they can seal this deal before a number of other interested parties emerge.
