Hearts suffer further injury blow ahead of Celtic clash

Hearts captain Lawrence Shankland was forced off the field in this evening’s Scottish Cup clash with Falkirk. The Bairns triumphed on the night, beating Derek McInnes’ side on penalties to secure their place in the Fifth Round of the Cup.

Ahead of next Sunday’s top of the table clash at Tynecastle, McInnes appears to have landed a further blow with Shankland appearing to pick up an injury. It looked like a potential hamstring for the Scotland Internationalist, which will be a blow to Hearts and a boost to Celtic.

There will also be a blow to morale for McInnes’ side, who were second best on the night with Falkirk dominating. Hearts are already without Cammy Devlin and Beni Baningime.

Celtic go into the game looking to add quality to their squad, especially up front. Celtic have to face Talbot in the Scottish Cup before travelling to Italy to face Bologna in the Europa League. The Scottish Champions need strikers to help win the league. The sluggish start to the window has alarmed fans, who believe that the club’s dysfunctional board is hanging MON, Mark Fotheringham and Shaun Maloney out to dry.
