‘He’s got everything you’re looking for’, Scott Brown hails Edouard

CELTIC would have marked their Player of the Year event at the Doubletree by Hilton in Glasgow’s City Centre as they have done for a number of years. However, this year there was no awards ceremony due to Coronavirus meaning that the winners had to receive their awards at home meaning they couldn’t appreciate the adulation of the supporters and their colleagues.

Scott Brown has paid tribute to the Celtic Player of the Year, Odsonne Edouard, when speaking to the Celtic website. Edouard was voted the club POTY, the Football Writers POTY and The Celtic Star POTY, with around 12,000 Celtic Supporters voting in our poll.

‘We’d obviously have loved the big man to have collected his Player of the Year award in front of the fans at the Hilton as well, but it wasn’t to be this year.

“It’s great that he’s won it, he fully deserves it and he’s been fantastic for us all season. He’s been a breath of fresh air since he came in, his touches, his awareness, his composure on the ball, he’s great.

“He lets us play a different game as well – he can go short, long, come in behind the defence, his link-up play is brilliant.

“He’s got everything you’re looking for in a modern-day striker.”

The French striker was in incredible form last season, scoring 28 goals and notching 12 assists in 45 appearances across all competitions as Celtic steamed towards matching Jock Stein’s 1974 record. Edouard will be a key player next season and hopefully the Frenchman and the club can reach an agreement allowing the former PSG striker to fire Neil Lennon’s side to 10IAR.

Edouard today celebrates the halfway point in his four year contract at Celtic after his £10m permanent move from PSG was confirmed on this day in 2018.
