It is going to be the transfer saga that ultimately decides the direction Celtic move in this summer in the big rebuild.
Yes, there is the setback of losing a talented player – arguably the most talented at the club, behind Odsonne Edouard – which could rock the boat a bit, as per se. However, there is also the prospect of having £15million to spend on players linked such as Carl Starfelt, Brandon Soppy and Liel Abada – something which could vastly change Celtic given the impending turnaround that is needed after last seasons horror show.
Initially, the general consensus behind Ajer’s departure was that it would be a loss – a loss that would be very hard to take. Yes, as said before, £15m is a lot of money – but after being linked with AC Milan, Bayer Leverkusen and the likes, you can understand why Ajer wanted to leave Celtic Park.
However, after being linked with the likes of Norwich and Brentford – who are undoubtedly a much smaller club than us – Celtic fans have started to shun their positive thoughts on Ajer, with many fans being aggrieved that if he is to leave Celtic and seek pastures new, that it would be a club that is tipped for relegation fodder next season.
Instantly, the Virgil van Dijk comments have started to come to the fore, with many claiming that gaining a bigger fee for Ajer than the world’s best centre-back is a joke – and that he should get on his bike and leave Paradise immediately.
IF we get anywhere near £15M for Ajer we’ve played an absolute blinder.
A decent player but I’d honestly have though he’d go for closer to £7M with just one year left on his deal.
At 23 he can still improve massively but needs to switch on positionally & improve concentration.

Ajer is a good player, but let’s be real if we are getting 15 million for him sell up and move on, he’s no Virgil.

Great business for Celtic, but personally I can’t believe Ajer would leave a club like Celtic for Brentford.

Love big Ajer. He’s a player. Won’t change my tune now. Sad to lose him.
But Brentford 😂😂. Christ on a bike. Different when the chat was Milan or Leverkusen . Proper teams in proper leagues. But relegation fodder in epl

Leaving a club like Celtic to ‘improve your career’ with a club like Brentford is a perfect example of the state of modern football 🤣🤣
On ye go Ajer 👋🏼
