Hibs and Celtic Reaction to Griffiths plus cash for Kevin Nisbet Proposed Deal

Hopefully Peter Martin is correct with his update that Celtic are keen on signing the Hibs and Scotland striker Kevin Nisbet with Leigh Griffiths plus cash going in the other direction. Martin, who works as a freelance commentator of both clubs’ TV Channels, Celtic TV and Hibs TV, is not known for sharing unsubstantiated rumours or gossip so you would think that there is something solid in this.

It is clear that Leigh Griffiths has little or no future at Celtic with a significant number of supporters appalled by his most recent behaviour. Seldom fit enough to play, Griffiths did come on in a pre-season match only to be roundly booed by a signifiant section of the support lucky enough to have got a ticket. Others though decided to applaud, but only on the basis that he was wearing the Hoops.

Nisbet would clearly be among many friends at Celtic and his goalscoring achievements last season for both club and country have not gone unnoticed.

“No way can I see Hibs being that daft. Why would you swap one of the best strikers in the country for a has-been with a circus round his name plus cash? On the other hand I’d send Griffiths to absolutely anywhere that would have him just to never see him in a Celtic shirt again,” Celtic fan Marc McArdle responded.

“I’d take Nisbet. I don’t care what happens to Griffiths as long as he’s no longer a Celtic player,” Danielle C added.

Willie, a Hibs fan gave his view: “Nah, the baggage alone is a circus we don’t need, if they want nissy pay what we want for him and leave Griffiths to someone else.”

Another Hibee, Ben added: “If we sign Griffiths that is nothing short of a disgrace the guy shouldn’t be anywhere near Hibs after his recent behaviour would only make hibs look bad and bring a storm down on us.”
