Hibs start McGinn, Celtic ready for hardball

Hibernian have included John McGinn in their starting XI for this evening’s match versus NSI Runavik in the Faroe Islands.

McGinn has been the subject of two bids from Celtic and should a deal go through, the 23-year-old would be ineligible for the remaining Celtic qualifiers.

Celtic have the squad depth to deal with this loss – should a deal go through; however, Celtic may not look favourably upon using McGinn for a dead-rubber tie when he could be the subject of another bid from his boyhood team. However, as no deal has been agreed, he is a Hibs player until both parties reach terms.

That said, Celtic may wait until January to sign McGinn on a pre-contract agreement in doing so, wiping out any fee Hibs would receive for the Scotland internationalist.
