Hibs v Celtic – team news, KO time and where to watch

Celtic face Hibernian at Hampden Park this afternoon in the Premier Sports Cup Final. Ange Postecoglou’s side defeated Hearts, Raith Rovers and St Johnstone to reach the showpiece final against the Easter Road club and will be hoping that they can secure the first piece of silverware of the season.

Team News

The manager was coy when asked about whether James Forrest and Kyogo would be fit for this afternoon’s match, insisting that no decisions had been made on the players that were currently engaged in rehab. This extensive list includes Portuguese sensation Jota, striking pair Albian Ajeti and Giorgos Giakoumakis and winger Mikey Johnston.

There is hope that Kyogo would be able to return considering how sparse Celtic’s frontline is currently looking.

Christopher Jullien remains a long term absence after he suffered from a relapse in his bid to return to fitness after a horrific knee injury last season.

Joe Hart will likely start in goals behind the defensive pairing of Cameron Carter-Vickers and Carl Starfelt. Tony Ralston, who’s late header sealed the points in Dingwall, will likely continue at right back.

Tom Rogic, Callum McGregor and David Turnbull will all be hoping to start at the National Stadium, although depending on the situation in attack Nir Bitton may be called upon.

Josip Juranovic played on the right wing in Dingwall and he might be required again given how short Celtic are in attacking areas. Hopefully, Kyogo makes it despite the injury against Real Betis and they’ll be joined by Liel Abada – who scored Celtic’s opener on Wednesday night.

Predicted XI: Hart; Ralston, Carter-Vickers, Starfelt, Taylor; McGregor, Rogic, Turnbull; Abada, Kyogo, Juranovic.
