Hibs v Celtic: team news, referee details, KO time & where to watch

Celtic travel to Edinburgh this afternoon for Cinch Premiership action against Hibernian. After winning in the capital last weekend against Hearts, Brendan Rodgers side are now up against Nick Montgomery’s Hibs.

Following Sunday’s 4-1 win against Hearts, Celtic were impressive as they drew against Atletico Madrid in the UEFA Champions League. Now, Brendan will be hoping to add Easter Road to the list of venues that his team have collected three points at this year, including Pittodrie, Ibrox, Livingston, Fir Park and Easter Rd.

Team News

Reo Hatate was forced off the field on Wednesday evening after Kyogo scored Celtic’s opener. It looked as if the Japan Internationalist tweaked his hamstring and Rodgers confirmed he would be out for a period. This opens up an opportunity in the starting XI for Paolo Bernardo, Tomoki Iwata or David Turnbull.

Liel Abada and Stephen Welsh remain out injured. However, Maik Nawrocki is back in contention for a place in the squad. Odin Thiago Holm hasn’t been seen since his sending off in Rotterdam as the manager may now prefer the experience of Iwata to the Norwegian starlet.

The manager has said that he will make a few changes for the game this afternoon.

In goals, Joe Hart will start.

In defence, expect that the manager sticks with the same back four as the other night with Greg Taylor, Liam Scales, Cameron Carter-Vickers and Alistair Johnston.

In midfield, you would expect Matt O’Riley and Callum McGregor to continue with Bernardo coming in.

In attack, Kyogo will start through the middle. Expect James Forrest to be handed with Luis Palma, with Daizen Maeda handed a rest.

Predicted XI: Hart; Johnston, Carter-Vickers, Scales, Taylor; McGregor, O’Riley, Bernardo; Palma, Kyogo, Forrest.

Referee Details

Alan Muir will referee the game with Dougie Potter and Jonathan Bell working as Assistant Referees. Matthew MacDermid is on Fourth Official duties. Meanwhile, at Clydesdale House, Don Robertson is on VAR duties with Alan Mulvanny assisting.

Kick Off Time

The game kicks off at 3pm (Celtic Park Time).

Where to Watch

Unfortunately, the game has not been selected for TV. That means that fans will not be able to watch the game unless they are based outside Britain & Ireland with Celtic TV subscribers outwith the region able to tune in.
