Celtic relinquished ground in the title race on Saturday after drawing with Aberdeen. The Scottish Champions travelled to the North East hoping that three points would stabilise the club after a disappointing January transfer window, in which just Nicolas Kuhn and Adam Idah arrived.
As it turned out, it would be the two winter arrivals that would combine to help bring Celtic a point as they combined with the former Rapid Vienna winger scoring his first goal for the club. Brendan Rodgers’ side were wasteful in the first half and should have had at least two goals before the break.
The half time allowed for Aberdeen to regroup and come back out with a more aggressive game plan. This was rewarded after Bojan Miovski was played through facing Maik Nawrocki in a 1-v-1, who twisted and cut onto his left foot before bending his effort beyond Joe Hart. The Dons pressed and Hart was required to come up with some big saves as Celtic toiled.
Kuhn netted after being set up by the on-loan Norwich attacker. It was a goal that was well-worked, even if it required a deflection to beat Roos.
Celtic need to improve in the coming weeks as the current state of the league table would suggest that it is about to be neck and neck against Rangers. With Wednesday’s away trip to Easter Road coming after Rangers host Aberdeen, Rodgers needs to get his team up to their best.
