Highlights as Celtic seal their place in the Scottish Cup Quarter Finals

Celtic have reached the Quarter Finals of the Scottish Cup thanks to an impressive win over St Mirren last night. It was a result that required a lot of hard graft from Ange Postecoglou’s side as Stephen Robinson’s side decided to go against the grain and attack.

Celtic were ahead within twenty minutes thanks to a goal from Daizen Maeda. The Japanese forward was moved through the middle after Kyogo was forced from the field through injury.

The second half saw Celtic create a number of openings but the stoic St Mirren rearguard limited Celtic’s attempts on goal. Richard Taylor handled the ball after Trevor Carson was rounded by Liel Abada. The Israeli winger’s shot was goal bound and Steven McLean didn’t blow his whistle but conceded that he got it wrong after consulting VAR. Taylor was sent off as Reo Hatate converted from the spot. Oh opened his account, latching onto a McGregor shot that was spilled by Carson.

Mark O’Hara pulled one back from. the penalty spot after Starfelt fouled Killie in the box. Matt O’Riley scored a brilliant goal to make it 4-1. This was followed up by an emphatic finish from Reo Hatate to round off proceedings.
