Highlights as First Half Show Downs Saints

Celtic scored three times within half an hour as the Scottish Champions blew St Johnstone away on a wet evening in Perth.

As the rain lashed down on McDiarmid Park, Celtic flew out the traps and put Tommy Wright’s side on the back foot. Chances from Odsonne Edouard and Leigh Griffiths went amiss while the Saints were forced deeper and deeper into their own third.

Olivier Ntcham opened the scoring after an incredible cross from James Forrest. The second came as Forrest latched onto a pass from Callum McGregor, cutting down the line before firing a shot into the goal.

Greg Taylor impressed as Celtic pushed for a third, his tantalising crosses caused chaos in the Saints backline but eventually one found Leigh Griffiths.

The second half saw a change in shape but a decline in tempo as Saints were resolute and Celtic were stable enough to keep the clean sheet at the other end.
