Hoops’ set to land Scotland youth international?

Rebuilding for next season has already started to look like an extremely exciting prospect following Celtic’s continued woes this season, and recent reports suggest that the wheels may finally be turning in motion for new arrivals to walk through the Lennoxtown doors.

Neil Lennon’s exit has been the main talking point recently, with his abandonment of issues at Celtic Park having sparked fresh rumours in terms of the managerial merry-go-round. This has left ample opportunity for the usual whispers to appear; however, despite the many rumours such as patriots John Kennedy and Steve Clarke appearing almost instantly, to the more cultured appointments of Rafa and Roberto Martinez, there has been little in terms of transfer rumours.

However, one transfer that has lingered on all season is that of Wigan Athletic’s Kyle Joseph; the Scotland under-19 youth international, who has been linked before with the Hoops. As reported yesterday by The Celtic Star, Joseph had been reported by the Daily Record as being ‘close to joining’ the Hoops on a pre-contract agreement; and The Sun have reiterated those claims today.

The 19-year old has scored five goals for the Latics’ this season in what has been an incredibly tumultuous season for the Greater Manchester side; having gone into administration over the summer, Leam Richardson’s side are struggling to stay in League One. However, with a whole host of talent including Joseph and Sean McGurk, the Latics’ youth are enjoying the experience of first-team football at a young age. And, aving already signed Sheffield Wednesday’s Liam Shaw on a pre-contract agreement, it would appear Celtic are taking the easy route of risk-free fees whilst a new manager isn’t appointed.
