Hugh Keevins continues to push his anti-Celtic agenda

Auld Shug still pushing his anti-Celtic agenda, let’s hope he’s left with egg on his face yet again…

Hugh Keevins, Radio Clyde’s resident elderly shock-jock, and Daily Record hack has been crowing recently about our recent poor form, while revelling in theRangers resurgence to the top of the table.

Auld Shug, despite apparently having earlier in life leanings towards Celtic has had a gripe with our club for more than a quarter of a century now and it doesn’t seem to be subsiding any. Put it this way if as a young man Shug found himself to have had the footballing ability of Jimmy Johnstone, he would NOT have been eligible to play for the previous club playing out of Ibrox. Why would that be Shug?

Even throughout Celtic’s success these past few decades he’s shown nothing but negativity towards our football club. He seems to take a perverse enjoyment when we suffer a defeat or go through a loss of form and great delight on his radio show when Celtic concede a goal.

Think back to his poisonous tirade on Ange Postecoglou after Ange’s first league game in charge of the club back in 2021. After a 2-1 loss at Tynecastle, Keevins quickly turned his venom on the Aussie by labelling him Absolutely Not Good Enough. He was obviously trying to be cute by using an anagram of the Aussies christian name to put him down.

That was despite Ange just being in the door and gelling together an entirely new squad of players into a totally different system than what they were used to. He judged the Aussie straight away and didn’t even give him a chance on his venture into a new country. Contrast that to the warm welcome he has gave Philippe Clement. Wee Shug well and truly rolled out the welcome mat for the Belgian, despite his failure to take anything from Celtic.

He’s still got his tongue firmly placed up the big Belgian’s backside while at the same time gleefully writing off Celtic’s title chances. But don’t fret because Keevins is wrong more often than not, so it can only give us some added confidence as a support heading into the title run in.

With friends like Hugh Keevins, Celtic is in no need of enemies.

An ordinary everyday Celtic supporters hailing and still residing in Govan in the shadows of the enemy. I’m a season ticket holder. I Witnessed my first Celtic game in 1988 and have attended when I can ever since. Growing up in the 90s I witnessed Celtic at their lowest, and now appreciate the historic success we enjoy today. I enjoy writing about this wonderful football club and hopefully will continue to do so. I’ve always been a keen writer and initially started this a hobby. My ambition is to one day become as good an author as my fellow Celtic Star colleagues.

It would be nice if you gave some context to Keevins comments. Not everyone that comes to this web site reads the local papers or listens to local radio.. I have no clue to what Keevins has been saying, although I can probably guess it is his usual drivel. But it would be better for your article if we did know, so maybe the odd quote would help.

    • Kevin’s always been the same, I’m old enough to remember back in the day after us winning the league by a land slide the new season approaching the pundits making their pridictions he obviously picked the rangers when asked what they had done to make up such a points gap he said its simply the Paul legwen factor, we know how that worked out, ps please excuse the spelling 😊
