‘I feel sorry for Celtic,’ Graham Hunter, the Aberdeen supporting La Liga journalist

RESPECTED Scottish sports journalist Graham Hunter who is widely regarded as an English speaking authority on La Liga, has been speaking to a betting website about Celtic’s match on Thursday against Valencia.

And the Aberdeen supporting hack admits that rather unusually, he feels sorry for Celtic, as Valencia have hit peak form just at the wrong time for the Hoops.

“All of you know my Aberdeen sentiments so for me to feel sorry for Celtic, think how surprising that is – but I do,” Hunter said.

“Because when the draw was made, Valencia – if they didn’t look like easy pickings, certainly were beatable.

“They’d invented 57 different varieties of ways to miss glaring chances.

“The results never matched the quality of the squad, but the quality of squad was there.

“It’s just that in the orchestra, all the instruments were playing different tunes and now they’re not.

“Neto in goal is playing in the form of his life. Parejo in midfield – a general, a conductor of where the ball should go – he’ll send Celtic running all over the park both at Mestalla and Parkhead.

“Up front, Rodrigo has found form and a partner. Not just one in Santi Mina but two in Gameiro.

“Wide – take your pick. Is it Cheryshev? Is it Soler? Is Guedes fit again?

“At centre back, maybe there are some opportunities, and I’m not digging at Celtic. It should be a contest.

“The horrible thing is Valencia have come bang into form at just the right time for them and the wrong time for the Scottish champions,” Hunter concluded.

He was pretty much bang on the money on Thursday but hopefully Celtic can prove him wrong in the Mestalla!
