“I have no intentions of going anywhere,” West Ham manager has no interest in Celtic job

West Ham manager David Moyes has ruled himself out of the running to replace Neil Lennon as Celtic manager. The former Celtic defender was on Celtic’s two-man shortlist in the late spring of 2016 when Celtic were looking for a new boss to replace Ronny Deila.

When sounded out then the former Everton and Manchester Utd manager was reluctant to return to Glasgow, seeing his future in management getting back into a job in the English Premier League after his eventual time in Spanish football. On the other hand the former Liverpool and Swansea boss Brendan Rodgers was immediately interested and keen to take the job of managing the club he supported as a boy.

The rest as they say is history. After Rodgers departed two years ago Moyes was once again rumoured to be a target but instead Neil Lennon was brought in and successfully navigated his way to completing the treble, adding the Scottish Premiership and the Scottish Cup to the League Cup Rodgers had won before his departure to join Leicester City.

Moyes after a difficult start at West Ham has done a tremendous job at the London Stadium and is now set to sign a contract extension that will keep him at the Hammers for a considerable period of time. West Ham are currently sitting in fourth position in the Premier League ahead of Chelsea, Champions Liverpool and his old club Everton and just behind the Brendan Rodgers managed Leicester City.

There is no chance that David Moyes would be interested in the Celtic job even if he were to be approached again.

“I have no intentions of going anywhere,” the former Celtic defender confirmed to the official West Ham website. “I’m really happy here. We are quietly ticking things along.

“I have already spoken to David Sullivan. Hopefully we can start to sustain a level of league position. The truth is that I’ve got something if we finish I think it’s above 13th where automatically it kicks in anyway if I choose.

“There’s no big panic, and I don’t feel under any pressure with it. We’ll get it sorted.”
